Your gun may very well be shootable. I have seen quite a few guns with similar pitting which were in service. You should have the gun checked out by a knowledgeable Parker gun smith. There are many such people and we may be able to point you to one near you. David
The previous owner said that he had shot it and used modern smokeless "low brass" shells. I will buy some lighter load shells. The action seems tight, there is just a very slight amout of play between the barrels and receiver.
