Use something soft, I use a pencil top eraser, and push the lever over with you finger as if you are opening the gun and push down on the latch at the back section of the slot in the frame. That releases the lever to come back to the center.

Looking down at the water table, look in the slot the barrel lug goes into and you will see a small square looking metal latch there. Push it down and let the lever come back to center. When the barrels close they would push that down doing the same thing the pencil will do.
