Stupid Question

The barrels were hand-fitted to the gun and were filed at the breech end to fit perfectly with the frame. The distance of seperation between 'firing pin' centers is what determines the frame size and a mis-matched set of barrels would center the shells in the wrong position for optimum striking of the pins to the primers. This was done on each and every Parker gun and to attempt to fit the barrels from a gun of one frame size to a frame of a different size is an excercise in futility. If it could be done at all it would be prohibitively expensive. I'm trying to understand why you would ask . . . ?

"Why would you ask?" A bit OT, but several years ago, I mistakenly fitted a set of 20 gauge barrels onto a 12 gauge M21 ( they fit perfectly) and went grouse hunting. Bird up, trigger pulled, no "bang". Looked at the primer - it was struck on the edge. Took me about 15 minutes to figure out what I had done. Was rather apparent when you looked at the mismatch between the standing breech and the barrels. Sure did shorten up the grouse hunt
