Default Finally

I was finally able to connect with a nice cock grouse after having spent about 24 accumulated hours hunting my bird-bare favorite covers in Vermont… VERY disappointing there the past couple of years. It’ll come back I know. We’ve been through cycles before and the grouse always come back… but at 79 I wonder if I’ll be out there after ‘em when they do come back.

But this week I was lucky enough for the fifth year in a row to have been invited back to hunt in Maine close up to the New Brunswick border with the Old Pats Society. What a great bunch of like-minded guys! Grouse and woodcock hunters all - And there were grouse there and woodcock too.
I was lucky enough yesterday morning with my Rear Admiral Thomas Perry’s 1908 DH with 28” twenty gauge Damascus barrels.
I had this gun on the “buy-sell-swap” table the night before and nobody wanted it badly enough…
Good for me, not so good for the ones who opted not to buy it.

Congratulations. Hard won, but worth every step. I would love to have the opportunity with the Old Pats gang. You are a lucky man.

Congratulations Dean, good shooting! Are you hunting with a dog or just walking them up?
