The lack of a rib legend and your description of a "very late serial number" indicates to me that it is a late Remington Parker. Remington is known to have taken liberties in straying from the 'standard' features of their graded Parkers. Such things as wood befitting a gun of a much higher grade; checkering patterns that are a far reach from the standard pattern for the grade; skeleton steel butt plates, normally reserved for Grade 3 and higher have been seen on Grade 2 Parkers. About the only feature of the graded Remington Parkers that seems to have remained constant is the engraving pattern remaining true to the grade.

We would like very much to see pictures of your Parker and know the serial number range as well.
