Default 28 gauge wads

I am getting the items I need to reload 28 gauge shells . I am saving my hulls from winchester AA which I bought recently. Do i need WAA 28 wads or WAA 28HS wads ? Thanks Tracy

It will have HS on the plastic in black letters if they are.

Sometimes the lettering wears off and is hard to see on those shells but it's stamped HS on the head at the 3 o'clock position.

I have used Remington 28 wads. The petals don't spread or collapse and create problems like the WW wads do.

Be sure to look at the hulls you're using to make sure which type of AA they are. Being as you said the hulls you're saving have been recently purchased they are probably HS and should be marked as such.

If in doubt you can look down the inside of the hull with a bright light and the HS hulls will have a slight ridge about where the base wad would be on straight walled hulls, the older compression formed hulls won't have this ridge & will be smooth all the way to the bottom.

In 28ga-Be sure to use the correct wad for the hull you're loading.

You can't go wrong with the wads by Claybuster.

Thank you all for your help . I shoot my 28 today and the HS on the hulls is hard to miss. Y’all have me headed in the right direction. I’m sure I’ll have many more questions . Tracy
