Yes, the Overload Proofed stamp was on some of the last Damascus barrels. The beautiful DH12 that was in my safe for the past year and recently sold by Josh is an example.

It looks to me like those barrels started life as extractor barrels by the plugged screw hole in the middle of the lug. Quite a project to change or modify the rib extension from an extractor style to an ejector style!

I doubt Remington Arms Co. Inc. would have had anything to do with fitting a set of Damascus barrels to a gun in that late time frame.

I checked and I have pictures of 241182 in my files, a 16-gauge, 1-frame, VHE, with a December 1938 date code on the left barrel flat.

I've never seen Remington's PARKER GUN WORKS OVERLOAD PROVED stamp on a Damascus barrel.

Just for reference, here are a few of Remington steel barrel rebarrels of Twist/Damascus guns from the 1890s. A 0-frame Quality PH that got a set of Vulcan Steel barrels in 1936 --

Here is a Quality BH, that got steel barrels, ejectors and a single selective trigger with 1937 and 1940 date codes --

84040 04 XF X = Dec F = 1937, PJ3 P = June J = 1940.jpg

A Quality GH that got steel barrels in 1940 --
