DGJ I&R arrived in NOVA land today. Interestingly, no prior routing info, notifications, or other in-route notations per some earlier posters received along the way - it just showed up in the regular mail.

I had heard of Parker shotguns but had never seen one. They are few and far between my my part of the country. As the son of a WWII vet, I grew up with a father that used a semi-auto shotgun in the field. My first shotgun was an American Gun Company tewnty-eight gauge hammer gun given to me by my maternal grandfather when I was about fifteen years old. I longed for one of those twelve gauge semi-autos like my father and uncle used. As I grew older, I shopped the bookstores for gun and dog magazines. I saw a magazine that looked much different than the other publications on the racks. That magazine was the Double Gun Journal. I read that magazine and was slightly interested in the content regarding those old doubles as I had one that had been relegated to the case after I procured one of my long sought semi-autos. I looked for the DGJ when I returned to the bookstores but never saw another one. Somewhere along the line I saw an ad for that magazine and subscribed. Looking at my collection, I find my first complete year was 1992. I am missing some issues throughout my collection, probably due to my spouse thinking they were just clutter. I always enjoyed my brief conversations with Heidi when I called to renew or order their product. Because of this magazine I was led to the PGCA. Yesterday, I received the DGJ Index and reader III. I have yet to open the wrapper, I am unsure when I will, but I look at that Index and reminisce about my journey with this magazine that led me here. A fitting finale to this fine publication. Thank you to the Cote's for your labor of love.

William, you can still order those missing issues from the Cotes.

There were plenty of posts over the past two years on the long awaited Index and Reader but curiously I haven’t seen much here over the past month since folks received their copy. So …… what is your feedback on its presentation and content? Any particular articles of historic or technical interest to Parker enthusiasts?

Looks like a quality bound book. It’s almost as thick as I&R I & II combined. I haven’t taken the plastic seal off of mine yet. 3 1/2 more books to read before I get into I&R III. Something to look forward to.
