Default New member from Kentucky

Hello everyone, thank you all for having on the forums. My name is Dylan Bright and I live in central Kentucky. I enjoy collecting and hunting with classic American firearms and am amazed at the amount of information contained here on the website and in the forums. I have been perusing the forums lately and what a great group of knowledgeable people! I have always wanted a classic American double to add to my collection, and have fallen in love with the history and craftsmanship of the Parker gun. I am currently searching for my first Parker to add to my collection.

I’ll now share a little about myself. I am 30 years old and have grown up in a hunting family and was introduced to the outdoors at a young age. Most of my outdoors experience has been in central Kentucky hunting whitetail deer, squirrels, and the occasional rabbit hunt. Dove season is my favorite time of year to get out and hunt with my classic American shotguns. I currently have two Remington Model 11s, one in 12ga and another in 16. I also have a pair of Remington Wingmasters in 12 and 16 gauge, a model 31 and a model 17. Anually I hunt ducks on Reelfoot lake in TN with my father, a friend of mine and his father. I have also hunted elk in Colorado.

I have made a career in law enforcement in my hometown as a patrol officer and as our firearms instructor. Early Kentucky history is another of my passions in studying.

I look forward to discussing Parker doubles with you all very soon, and as I previously said, I am searching for my first Parker, possibly a VH in sound shootable condition!

Thanks again for having me,
Dylan Bright

Dylan, where are you in Central KY? I’m from Bowling Green, KY, but my daughter has a horse farm near Stanford.

Dave, I’m in Marion County. Home of Makers Mark Bourbon. I enjoyed your Andrew Jackson quote in your signature, another proud Kentuckian I see.

Welcome, Dylan! I’ve hunted grouse in your state’s beautiful mountains and my favorite Parker was a 1918 ordered gun owned by a quail hunter from Bowling Green. Consider becoming a full member. You’ll have access to the for sale section of the forum where you’ll see some wonderful Parkers. You may just find the gun of your dreams…and some lifelong friends.

I wish I had become interested in Parker shotguns at your age! What a great time to start collecting. And it's fun to aquire ones that you can take afield. Reelfoot Lake is quite the ducky spot.
Garry mentioned the advantage of becoming a member. I have a wonderful 0-frame 16 that I purchased here a few years ago. The price was very fair and that has now taken grouse. Also, members receive a wonderful magazine with interesting articles and regular columns- more than worth the price in and of itself.
I assume Marion County residents get a hefty discount at Star Hill Farm (MMD)?
Welcome aboard!

Thank you all for the warm welcome. Yesterday evening I joined as a member online and paid my dues. I guess my profile will update soon and allow me to access the member only sections of the forum??

Chris, we don’t receive much of a discount at star hill farm, but it is nice to go “straight to the source”! They also employ several people in the community and it’s nice to “know someone” who works there.
