Out of curiosity if a Parker guy wanted to shoot the 8 on the course in both the hammer and hammerless events would he be able to use either score for the combined 5 stand plus course trophy ?

Whichever gun you shot your first round on the course is the score you’d use. Just like the 5-Stand, first round is the “for score” round.
