If you subscibe to the Whole Dog Journal you will see the latest recalls of dog food. I have never seen any Purina products recalled. That's just my experience.

I got away from it after 3 bags in a row with the larva/worms as described earlier in the thread.

It has been my experience that a dog, even your most well mannered obedient companion, will eat far, far worse things in the field than larvae worms. True, we don’t need to introduce it to them but it’s not going to do them any real harm in most cases.

I disagree, open a new bag of food and within a week it is infested with worms and maggots. A dog will eat cat turds all day long like treats but I don’t go through the neighborhood collecting them to cut down on food costs.

I'm sure you don't Brian

But I must say I have Never had that experience with Purina Pro Plan.
Flies must have laid their eggs on it after it was baked and bagged... don't have any idea how they may have gotten in there... maybe in the holding bin before it was bagged... who knows...

We’ve had the same issue, and Elaine talked with the reps at the Pheasant Fest about it. If she sees this, maybe she’ll report what they said.

I have never had any experience with fly larvae or moths in bags of Pro Plan. Right now, I'm feeding my Brittany pup Pro Plan Puppy Chicken and Rice.

My Gordon will be eight this summer, and I feed her Pro Plan Sport 26% year-round.

When bird seasons roll around, I mix it with a small bag of Pro Plan Performance 30% for the added protein.

I used to feed Eukanuba. When it first came out it was a real good product. They were bought out by Iams and I'm positive that they changed the formula. I got tired of the number of recalls so I switched to Pro Plan. I know that Eukanuba sponsors a lot of gun dog events, but Iams isn't exactly hunter friendly. I'm not even sure if Iams owns them anymore.

**Apparently Eukanuba is now owned by Royal Canin, an affiliate of the Mars Corporation.
