When the gun laws in India changed, back in the late '60s, the British were buying them back in box loads for very little money and there was no end to the choices of Jones under lever guns, mostly black powder in .400, .450 and .500 BPE. Many were well worn, and many were in exceptional condition. It was those rotary bolt under lever guns that got me going, and I bought many both in England, and over here.
When H&H was on Bruton St, they had a private collection downstairs. Billy Billimoria took me down there often. My all time favorite gun was a Holland with a Perkes patent under lever, self cocking 450 hammer double. The hammers were cocked when the under lever was rotated. I had never seen one, but Billy told me there were a few made in 12, and 16ga.
