Thanks for the advice, Harold. Value isn’t important, just cool to have my grandpa’s old gun. I’m excited to shoot it but I’m going to have a gunsmith look at it first, just to make sure everything’s ok. I love the outdoors, camping, hiking, fishing, just never had anyone to get me into shooting/hunting. Hopefully this will jump start a new hobby!

You can pick up a lot of good advice and info here on the PGCA forums and we are happy you are going to keep and shoot a family gun. Since a V grade or Vulcan has fluid steel barrels, personally I would shoot 1 or 1 1/8 oz loads around1200 fps thru it---dont shoot steel shot thru it. A great piece of family history, and hopefully the start of a new hobby for you.

Thanks Mike. That makes sense, it’s kind of extracting the empty shells but not ejecting them.
