That stock extension is so harmonic, and perfectly fit, I'd leave it alone. Such workmanship is rare. And it's a part of the gun's history. Who knows. It may have been originally made up for a small Royal...

It was originally built for a George Massey Watson who eventually went to New Zealand. The gun was later in the UK and Dickson’s sold it to a person back in New Zealand.
