Mike you sure can take a quail slam with an 8 gauge. I have shot Gambles, and Scale quail but not a Mearns.
Now you have given me an idea, maybe this year will be the slam with an 8.
I have called in coyotes and shot them.
Legally you can shoot all big game also, with the exception of a Bison.
When I petitioned AZ G&F to allow the 8 gauge I wanted to take a Gobbler. Finally this year I drew a tag, plan on filling it with my 8 gauge WC Scott SXS. Only took 12 years,to draw.

Phil, the plan is to head to southern AZ in January 2025 for a quail slam. Watched The Flush and they did an episode on that. All it took was AZ in January, shotguns, birds and dogs to get the wheels turning! We’d use an outfitter and his dogs. Most likely fly out too.
