Default Forearm Question

I have a 12ga d-grade gun with straight grip and BTFE (original with reinforced hook). I thought it would be cool to have a splinter forearm too and recently picked one up.

The splinter fits the barrels perfectly and the latch works fine. However, the splinter is for an extractor gun and mine is an ejector.

Question; if I had the holes drilled in the splinter forearm metal to accommodate whatever the pins that come out of the action knuckle are wold the splinter work and not harm the gun?

The first picture is of my splinter forearm, the lower picture is of a splinter for an ejector gun. I’ve circled the relief holes I’m referring to in red.

Best,
Brett
