Usually if the shop vultures are quiet and eating it then would seem to be palatable atleast . I only remmember one time they were talking and I’d over done the soy sauce on some venison backstraps . And even at that they ate it

Mr. Roberts I failed to mention I don’t have any more tree rats in the freezer , hence the reason I can’t make anymore like this until next season . We’re doing lunch now . And if I must say so it isn’t bad ! Tree rats may have a rough season in 2023 until I put a dozen in the freezer !

My retired Brother when not in pursuit of bluegill filets enjoys chasing the "tree rats" as you call them. As I recall season opens here on Aug. 15, I may need to encourage him to pursue a few of these critters prior to the PA gatherings. He did say something the other day about having some fox squirrels in the freezer that voted for Eisenhower if that would work...

You are more than welcome to collect as many as you need out on the farm (or in my yard!). We have gray and fox squirrels, so you can compare flavors.

Our season is in now!

We now have Fox squirrels all be it not many in Orange . But I appreciatte the invitation .

Also it seems I now have an ongoing war almost against the little grey bastids as they like a soy based insulation on some of the wires under my truck .

Having spent a decent amount of time in Colonial Williamsburg and having eaten a good bit in all the "colonial taverns" in the restored area I got intrested in their version of Brunswick stew because of past experiences .

But they also have a thing at one of the taverns there called Colonial Game Pie I wanna try also I think it calls for deer rabbit and duck . I'm oughtta rabbit but I have mallard breasts and plenty venison I think pheasant breast could fill in for the rabbit . Anyway I wanna give that one a go soon .

I knew as soon as I looked in that pot that you didn't have enough okra. I would rather leave out any other ingredient as long as I had okra.
