Glad I reload and have hundreds of 2 1/2" hulls for 16, of course reloading components arent growing on trees, but I'm good for quite a while. It does however affect the ability to shoot clays, have cut way back on that.

Factory low-recoil 16-gauge ammo is much lower-priced when it is unavailable.

Over the last year I have developed a strange new respect for my 12-gauge guns. A couple of years ago, having become more focused on the 16s, I put a 12-gauge GH up for sale with a dealer. I recently retrieved it after it went several months unsold.

During this ammo shortage I can still obtain light-recoil 12-gauge ammo at my club.

Yesterday Cabella's in Augusta, ME had some 12 gauge 1 oz. game loads, Winchester I think, for $10.99 a box. I didn't need any so I didn't buy any.

They also had a custom engraved Sterlingworth and a couple of Trojan 12's, one a 28" and the other a 30". They seem to be easing back into used guns.

Eggs are $7.50 per dozen, and y’all are complaining about $20-$25 per box for specialized hunting loads? The new norm will not be like the last norm. And, with real interest rates still in the negative, inflation is not transitory—it’s here to stay. Learn to reload or get used to ponying up big bucks to feed your shotguns.

Reload...I get that. Why not raise chickens, too?

Russel, been thinking I should start shooting a 12 more, as ammo is more availale. I dont have many 12's, but do have a Fox pin gun and a Ugartechea model 30 that need to get the dust blown out of the barrels.
Wally World typically has the Win Universal and/or Fed Game loads in 100 packs in 12's and 20's at $35/100 pack for those that really dont need to shoot 2 1/2" shells. These are mid velocity--1200fps or less. Ive picked up a 1000 rounds of 20 ga 7 1/2 and 8's, and not stopping there. I can load 2 1/2" 20's , but usually shoot 3/4 oz reloads low pressure loads using 20/28 in AA hulls and dont worry about it.

Yeah, we raised chickens for several years, and hogs, too. Now if you want to talk about producing poop...there's no business like hog business.

There is a reason I shoot 12's and 20's at clays, and 16's at feathers....

Those Nobel low recoil 20ga rounds are perfect dirt shooters out of my trojan.
