Parker 410 frame

The 000-frame is or became the standard .410 frame. The prototype was built on a 00-frame and maybe a few more but there certainly aren't many that I know of.

Dean: I recently purchased a book " American and British 410 Shotguns". In the Parker section on page 62(2nd paragraph) I found my VH 410 listed by serial number as having a 00 frame. I will quote some of the paragraph and hope to get your opinion and others. Quote: [Virtually all original 410's were made on the 000 frame after 1928.Subsequently however a couple of rare 410's appear to have been manufactured originally on the 00 frame including a VH 410 serial number 237257(my gun) and a GHE SN 231691. The latter guns stock book is missing.] I don't know how accurate the information is in this book but my frame is stamped 00 and I always thought this was a factory error and should have been stamped 000 being a 1935 gun. I would like to know where the author got this information and what he means by the stock book which it sounds like where he retrieved the information on my gun. This gun was also owned by Mr. Charles Price at one time and he pictured it in the Parker Story 3 times but doesn't make note that is was on a 00 frame.

A serial # search indicates there are records available for your gun. Do you have a letter?

John, what are the specifications of your gun, beavertail forend, ejectors, single trigger, other extras?

Double triggers-splinter forend-non ejectors- ball grip. All the other specs are listed in another post. The A+F letter originally listed the gun as a VHE but noted they made the correction and was re-entered in their inventory.

Yes! I actually have two letters-one from PGCA and one from Abercrombie and Fitch. The PGCA letter list the gun as a VH 410 with 26"vulcan steel barrels -ball grip on a 000 frame -modified and full choked and put into inventory on Sept. 26, 1935. The Abercrombie and Fitch letter states about the same thing but adds the weight at 5 pounds and 12 ounces and gives the dimensions of: 2 5/16 drop at heel X 1 3/16 drop at comb and 14 3/8 LOP. The frame size is not listed. Thats why I would like to know where the author got his information on my gun being on a 00 frame.

I would suggest the author got his information directly from Charlie. To put together such information for his book I'm sure he did extensive research on every topic and Charlie was one of the main authors of "The Parker Story" and was always very approachable.

Further, on page 71 the author lists Charlie as a source of information.

In the Parker Story they say its a 000 frame even though the 3 pictures of the gun in the book don't show the stamped 00. I can't see Mr. Price giving the author different information.
