Default Pot of gold

We went out to the National Warplane Museum last night to attend a performance by the Glen Miller Band

We arrived early with a plan (insert a what happens to plans joke here) to take some pictures of my wife in her 1940s vintage outfit by one of the C-47s they have there. Some may remember the story I told before about my wife’s father’s WWII adventures flying for the OSS. But he was also qualified on the military version of the DC3, and flew them in the Korean War period.

But of course a storm chased us down the valley and we hung out in the main hanger waiting for the show to start and I only got to take a couple shots on B&W film before it hit.

It came down pretty good for a while but was letting up by the time the band took intermission. I walked out the front of the hanger in time to see a rainbow over a couple planes. Afraid it would disappear by the time I ran across a muddy field to get my digital camera out of the truck, I took what I could on my cell, not the best shot but thought I would share it anyway

The plane on the right, designated Whiskey 7 is an actual D-Day survivor- it dropped one of the sticks of airborne troops on Sainte-Mère-Église that morning.

Rick, where are the cool pics of your wife in period dress standing by W7??

There's a guy on Moosehead Lake in Greenville, Maine who has/had a DC3 on pontoons...
(Edgar knows him.)

still in the Leica with only a couple of quick frames taken on a new roll (I planned to shoot a BW and a color roll but the storm said "oh no you don't"

I am not sure they will be that good, the light was dark and flat, not the golden hour evening glow every photographer hopes for. And being a well attended special event, I wasn't about to get out a light, stand and modifier set up to as I normally would just to get poured on this time. we can always go back on a nice quiet day. the airfield is not far

IF the shots turn out and IF she approves the prints - I'll post one, the outfit is original to the period

here you go Dean- she is wearing an original vintage 1940's dress and hat (that's also an original beaded handbag tucked under her arm) and she is holding her Father's Ziess folding camera

Thanks, she is more than I deserve

I’m not an expert, but according to specs a C-47 Dakota wears p&w R1830s

Iwatch? She still has a flip phone

That is a period copper and stone bracelet to match the copper beading on the collar and the purse, She has style
