I kept wondering about the hole in the safety slide. I wondered if there had been a small ball bearing underneath. I was looking at a depression in the tang with its share of grunge. I cleaned that out and the depression was not a smooth hemispherical shape so I abandoned the though t of a small ball. It wasn’t until I magnified the area that I could see the letter S. okay got it. It is tough to see for my old eyes but I now know the purpose of the hole. Maybe it had some red paint or gold on the S at one time. Anybody know about that?
