Have a cousin in the injection molding business and when MEC stopped making steel shot wads i asked him about how it was done. At that time a nearby company was running wads for Remington and he was friendly with the owners. They rent machine hours and use the molds that they are sent. These molds are VERY costly, to the tune of over $ 100,000 for a 30 item mold. The cost of a mold today would be double that. Each cavity is numbered so that if a defect develops they can tell where the problem is. Checked a bag of SP 10 and the highest number i found was 24 meaning the mold has 24 or more cavities. These are also water cooled adding to the complexity of them and cost.
Claybuster would be looking at a very substantial start up cost and would have to gauge what the volumn of sales would be to justify it.
