Default Superpose question.

I have a 20 ga Superposed Lightning made in 1959. Love everything about the gun but I wish the safety was automatic (reset to safe when the action is opened). Did Supers have automatic safeties?

Thank you,

JDG

I have a super 20 also made in 1959 and it does not have an auto safety. I prefer that. My 12ga super also does not have an auto safety.

I didn’t think the safety should be automatic and I’m sure the original owner would not have had it disengaged. All of my other doubles have auto-safeties so I find myself always checking to make sure it is on, which isn’t a bad thing.

Thanks,

JDG

I had a bunch of Superposed in 12 a couple in 20 , a 28 and a 410 . To be honest I don’t remmember if any were auto safety or not . I tend to think the 12 Mag I had was auto safety . It was a 68 or 69 gun . I don’t think the skeet guns all four gauges or the Broadway were auto safety . But that’s just my thoughts none are still in my hands . The other 20 I had was circa 1951 I’m pretty sure that was non auto .

None of the SPs I ever owned or shot had an automatic safety. I think the non-auto feature was standard and that an auto safety version would have to be special ordered.

I have a 1949 and 1952 Superposed, both 20s, neither have auto safety.
