You’re a lucky guy to have that family heirloom. We had a similar top action hammer gun in the family that belonged to my great great grandfather who lived in Bristol, Ct and fought in the Civil War. It was dark, dirty and heavy and it had a broken hammer. When I was a kid I was fascinated by it. Sadly my uncle scrapped it in the 1970s, convinced the Damascus barrels were unsafe. Oh how I wish we still had that gun.
