When you take the barrels off the lever will stay to the right. When you reinstall them, it will come back to center and lock them on. If you want to center the lever while the bbls are off, take a pencil or something else soft...NOT METAL.... and push it down into the slot between the tables, right up against the breech faces, and push down on the small square metal piece that you can see sticking out down at the bottom. Hold the lever over to the right a bit when you do this. That metal tab will depress down a bit and allow you to let the lever come to center. This is desirable to take the tension off the lever return spring and helps in putting the gun into cases. In some soft cases leaving the lever to the right will have it catching on the lining as you pull it out. If you leave the lever to the right it will hit the bottom of trunk cases, which you don't want. I always neutralize mine when storing them broken down. I hope I've made this clear enough. The little metal tab you're looking for is only about 1/4" in size and is down at the bottom in the table slot, right against the floor plate. Just don't push down on it with anything metal to prevent marring it.
