There is a better way, than drilling. I have gotten them out before, and repaired the ejector by silver soldering. But, it's a tedious process getting the new guide pin lined up perfectly before soldering. There's a narrative I posted on the Fox site years ago about this type repair. Since doing this repair I have learned of another method for getting the broken piece of the guide pin out, by using little rare earth magnets like you can buy at Lowe's, etc.
I would have been furious if I had a 'smith do that to my SuperFox. However, it can be repaired so as to be invisible. I'd have it micro-tigged and dressed down. If it's peened carefully, before finish filing, any sign of the hole will just go away. It might be possible to do so without even having the welding done, by threading the hole, putting in a tight fitting plug, then peening. That's probably what I'd try before sending it off for welding.
Seeing that really bugs me.
