Charlie, I believe that the "Plain Steel" barrels are pretty strong, I had a 12 gauge plain steel gun that I shot Federal dove loads in, never had any problem, but again the barrels looked like a piece of 3/4" Galvanized pipe they were so thick, I had a 11gauge but it was chambered at the factory for 12-A shells, I figure your gun is so early that no records are available for it?
