No way Deano. You need to bring respect to the editor's wing of the PGCA. This is yours to win and I know you can do it. Besides, the mountain boy will be having enough to handle with his new duties. Don't distract him with this shooting stuff.
![]() Kenny: That's all you need. Now how about you? What will you be shooting?

what is the best shot size for the BoWhoop? Are 7 1/2 better due to their better downrange performance, or are 8's or smaller preferred for pattern density?
Also what payload do you feel is best for 12 ga--1 1/4 or 1 1/8 oz, and for 20's--7/8 or 1 oz.

I like 7.5's but 8's would do the job. These two events , especially the Whoop, are built around and focused on tight chokes and loooooong targets so spend one afternoon with both gauges and shoot patterns starting at 40yds. I like light loads but you have to shoot what you are confident with and what your gun likes. In the 12 you could shoot 1oz. in the first barrel followed by an 1 1/8oz, 7/8 followed by 1oz. or any combination thereof. Same deal with the 20. I've seen it done with 3/4oz. loads in the 20 and the 28 so 7/8oz in the 20 can do the job. For me recoil reduction is important on the first barrel but the goal is to find a gun that you can shoot well and have fun. Just remember it's not the arrow- It's the Indian. Kenny; Your pin gun could be the winner and will do just fine. That's not a bad idea having Dean bless your "bullets" as he is looking for something to keep him busy post editorship. I hear he will be at the Bo-Whoop tent and circulating the "field" wearing his zucchetto blessing anything Parker, black labs and children. (Those of you who were altar boys in your youth will know what a zucchetto is). This was a job previously performed by the Toolmeister who is taking a sabbatical. Lube those hinge pins have a go at it!

Corollary: no Indian can shoot well with a bad arrow.
![]() The late George Griscom of NJ won the Bo-Whoop one year with a new to him 28" 12-gauge Fox-Sterlingworth Field gun. Good Indian with a good Fox arrow. IME, the best pellet size and payload weight depend on the B-W presentation, and the targets are different every year. Daryl is the new Fox Shooting Events chairman and I'm sure his targets will be good but challenging. ![]() Just a reminder, at least in the past any maker's gun can win the purse, but the B-W Trophy honors must be won using an A H Fox design gun. |
