some short 8 ga loads with #9s would make a great quail gun , I could see you doing that haha .

Ive read that also about using a hot glue gun , in his video Larry Potterfield used something called water glass to glue his into place .

Charlie have you watched this video , they talk about how hunting was done with the 10,8, & 4 bores . I found it really interesting where he mentions if you owned one of these guns then your children (which they had alot of back in those days) had better diets and more protein than other families . So they would be healthier .

Shooting them on the deck as he calls it would probably be considered unsportsmanlike these days haha .

Heres the video the water glass is at the 4:40 mark

Ive never seen or heard of shooting conveys on the ground either but he says it was for when you needed to kill 30 bird to feed a family of 9 . A 4 bore on small birds seems extreme even by my standards . I used to use 2 1/4 loads of #4s in my 10 ga 3.5"s for squirrels at probably 60 yards or so . Never did much meat damage as theyd only have 2 or 3 hits in the head .

My neighbor who lived about half a mile down the road asked me the following day what the * I was shooting . When I told him he said it sounded like thunder haha .

We used to have a real problem with squirrels chewing holes in our flight pens on the quail farm . I seen him take his dads old browning sweet 16 and go and kill every one he came across he was fed up with them . I always loved seeing them purple hulls when I was a kid .

I wish I could find the picture of that reloading press that was on GI awhile back it was setup for 8 ga , had the resizer and all with it looked pretty good .
