The "plain" cap with the checkered oval in the center would be right on all pistol grip hammer guns and also on pistol grip hammerless guns up until ABOUT 1905-1910.

After that timeframe the pistol grip cap would have the Parker Bros. name on it. This continued on Parkers above Trojan grade until the end of Meriden manufacture. Then the Parker Ilion Caps were used under Remington.

There are two different sizes for the Parker name caps based on gauge.
