Today's visit with Gunter had both good and bad aspects. The gun locks up tight on face, and barrels appeared by be solid with adequate thickness. Mechanically, things seem to be sound. The fore-end wood has shrunken over time, and the planned rechecking on this piece has been tabled. The barrels had been scrubbed pretty hard to rid rust, and the Damascus pattern has been severely hidden under a bright metal sheen. It will take a bit of work to return the to a nice appearance. Decisions to make, as I consider just making it an occasional shooter at hammer gun events.
