Umm, I'm not sure about the barrels on yours: Concerning the picture of your barrels on the previous page, do you have them upside down where the front bead is hidden, or is it missing? You need to look at how the rib ends on yours and compare it to Bruce's photo of the unaltered one. Does the end of the bar on the top have the flat, horizontal edge shown, or has the bar been cut off? If it has it and the bead, then maybe it's original. My 16 ga appears to be missing that feature and it has a different bead, a brass stud, instead of the one shown, so I'm thinking mine was cut. If you can get someone to check the interior barrel diameters to determine the choke, you would have a better idea if they were cut. Mine are both near Improved Cylinder now (0.655 inches). If yours are not cut, I would expect them to have two different chokes, possibly full/modified or such. Shane |

Thanks, such was my suspicion.
So we have a 16 Ga cut to 24" and with a Pachmayer pad installed and with the bluing long gone from the barrels. It seems to lock up well and I am hoping it shoots. The widow believes this might have belonged to her father. I am going to encourage her to keep it in her family rather than sell it. Last edited by Greg Kitchens; 10-26-2010 at 10:51 AM.. |

Well, I test fired the gun and both barrels shot just fine. I used some light 2 1/2" factory loads. The widow insist on selling it, so I will soon post it on one of the auction sites. It sould make a good hunter for somebody.
One question: is this a VHE or a VH? |

Thanks so much...it is indeed a VHE as those shells flew right out with authority. It is so rewarding to learn!
