Dean, all figurative!!! But that was always my Dad’s description of a task that he has assigned to us that required “positive supervision”.....all that being said, my Dad carried a King Ranch cowboy made quirt for pesky strays when he walked my Mom’s dog. Oh yeah, he also had no problem using that sucker on my brother or my bum for the more severe infractions!!
