I am the proud owner of one of two Cap Grier Model 21s. My Grier gun was apparently a gift to Colonel Grier from John Olin after he set the five man team World's Record with his first 21. Both of his Model 21s are heavy 32" guns.

Were either of Cap Grier's Model 21s ventilated rib guns???
Does your gun shoot high, low, or dead on???
Murphy it is good that you own one of Cap Grier's Model 21s... There are some folks that I would not like to see owning one. David

David, mine is a vent rib gun, and, even though the picture doesn't show it, I believe the first one is also a vent rib gun. I have the letter on both, but not in hand. The first one is in Delaware, but has not been offered to me. My gun seems to shoot fairly flat, although I haven't shot it a lot. I found the story about Cap shooting as a young kid years ago, searching on LA84. He had a long illustrious shooting and military career. I also have a Delaware State Champion trophy that he won in the thirties. My files are loaded with his records. He retired from the Army Reserves as a Brigadier General.

I passed on an early Model 21 vent rib gun a While back. The gun was in the 1934 range. This 21 had more than a couple previous owners, and I did not like the flees that one of them left on the gun, also I did not like the way it shot, (Pattern Placement)... Again:: Cap's gun is most likely where it belongs. It has always been easy for me to warm up to that Winchester shotgun. David
