True, # 7 seems appropriate for 10 G too. Most clubs won’t allow 10 G or # 7. Luckily a few near me do.

Was told i could not shoot my 10 on trap field, why i ask, too big they said. Asked if 1-1/8 is what they shot at 1200 ft/sec, yes they said, so 1oz at 1125 is too powerful? The powers that be huddled and said huh what, yes you shoot a heavier faster load than the short 10. Oh i guess it's ok then. Twice that has happened twice light dawned.

I don't reload, but do shoot RST 10 gauge and it is actually pretty light compared to some modern 12 gauge loads

I just ordered a flat of RST 10’s 1 1/8 of #8’s and a couple boxes of #6 for a fellow that just acquired an 1876 lifter .

I should add that RST loads are all that you need for most shooting.

I load a rather diverse assortment of 1 1/8 , 1 1/4 , 1 1/2 , buckshot , slugs and bismuth for mine .

I have Bismuth #1 , #2 and #4 on hand . Next week if my hulls arrive I'll most likely load up 25 of each size . Quite possibly in late January I just might be heading to south east Arkansas for a couple days of duck duck and no goose LOL's !

I went to Arkansas a few years ago and it was great. I shot my NH 10 gauge one day.

I have a friend of sorts that owns a rather large piece of excellent duck-deer-piggie real estate . My gunsmith buddy goes down each year for piggie hunting and one year I went along . When he goes is always at the end of the Arkansas duck season . When I went a few years back I took a GH 16 gauge a W&C Scott 10 gauge and a "few" rifles

I've always though of the 10ga as being the ideal gauge. One can load down to a light 1oz load, or anywhere up to a heavy 2oz load. You can't ask for much more. I shoot a 1oz load for targets and with that short of a shot column there's no deformation of shot and the patterns are really great.
