Some info, guys--my 1909 PH 8 gauge has an marked weight of 9 pounds, 1 ounce (36" bbls.) My 1892 P, top action hammer 8 is marked 7 pounds, 6 ounces (34" bbls.) A previously owned DH 8 gauge was marked 8 pounds, 10 ounces on its 32 and 9/16" bbls. Additional info and supporting Austin's struck to unstruck analysis, the PH os 88.2%, the P top action, 84.7% and the DH 84.8%. My guns, in general, appear to run a little heavier (struck to unstruck) than those in Austin's analysis. My overall number is 90.4%, with the composite barrels running 91.4% and the modern steel ones, 88.0%. As a point, my sample size is only 18.
