Default “K” barrrels

What type of steel are “K” barrels?

"K" is the inspection stamp of the gunworks superintendent until 1910, Charles A. King. His successor, his son Walter King's stamp is W.K. in an oval.

That’s what I thought, away from my resources. This K is a capital letter in the front (muzzle end) and on same side as I struck weight. So, my next question, can 1 frame 16 barrels be fitted to a 1 frame 12?

Your chances of fitting 1-frame 16 barrels to the frame of the same size are far better than trying to fit 0-frame barrels to a 1-frame frame.

I can't read Dean's post properly. He will probably fix it after a proofread. Fitting 0 to 1 isn't going to work because the pins are a different distance apart. Fitting 1 to 1, even in different gauges, is much more possible. 1/2 to 1 is also more possible since the pins are an equal distance apart.

okay so that was my question, these are 1 frame 16 barrels, and I have the same vintage 1 frame 12 gun, both graded with dollshead, both extractor, then it might work.

Bill, I went back and read it again and I corrected my error. My apologies to Bill and Edgar and everyone else reading this thread.

To paraphrase what I had said.... It will be a lot easier to fit 1-frame barrels to a 1-frame 'gun' than to attempt to fit 0-frame barrels to a 1-frame 'gun'.

Regardless, of semantics, syntax, “freudian tyros”, i think i see that frame size, and presence of extractor, or ejectors is the key.....if all other things are equal, a 20 bore 1 frame is identical to a 12 bore 1 frame..
