It won't close

I was shooting some sporting clays with a 28ga today and halfway through the gun wouldn't close. I shot the first pair no problem but when I went to close the gun for the second pair it wouldn't close. I thought maybe the shells weren't resized and tried some different ones but the problem persisted so I called it a day.
The only thing I can see is that the ejectors don't go all the way back in. I didn't take the forarm off as I thought it might cause further complications.

Any ideas?

seriously- the will it close without shells in it is a good question - if not- then it may well be debris in the action

I took the forearm off and the ejectors were cocked. This has two sets of barrels so I put the Parker barrels on it and no problem so I went back to look at the barrels from James Purdey. The wear plate on these is angled upwards and therefor the barrels won't close. It should be a simple fix.

I always wondered where those Purdey made Parker barrels I had ended up!

I knew these came from you David but how did you come up with them? They make a nice conversation piece Purdey barrels on a Parker and at 28 inches choked M/F they make a good set for pheasants and sporting clays.

They were a second set of barrels on a gun Mid South Guns sold. I purchased them from Phillip and added them to my barrerl collection. One day I figured I had enough invested in stray barrels to but a nice Parker so ended up selling them to Jay and the rest to Tom Carter and Dave Fjettine. Only barrel left is a OO 28ga repro.

I'd like to learn the history behind these. I wonder who commissioned Purdey to make them and why them and not Parker. Another mystery in the complex world of Parker guns.
