Hey Harry. I was able to get this without logwood. Plenty black enough, and the crolle is full, but the steel should come out more, but that's not related to the use of logwood. Will probably etch again. The fine layers of this one have been a pain.

Like many of the other process variables, some evidently don't use logwood. I'd like to, to save some rusting cycles, but I'm not done setting up a tank for it.

If you have time, let's reconnect and compare notes again. I've been using a slurry similar to calcium carbonate as a step late in the cycle.
