Best of luck with your dog. I had an English Setter that had a cruciate ligament tear. My vet told me that he would tear one in the other leg within a year. He advised given the age of the dog (9years old) that I just retire him to the kennel. The vet is regarded as the best in my area for this surgery and does many of them. He advised each surgery would cost $2,500, so $5,000 to do both legs in one year on a dog that would be 10 years old.
