I know an individual who ordered a Holland & Holland 20 gauge specifically dedicated for quail shooting in the early 1970's. When he went to London to be measured and fitted for the gun, they asked him for his preference in chokes. They actually calculated his stride and patterned the gun at 13 steps for the right barrel and 16 steps for the left barrel to deliver consistent patterns at those ranges for flushed birds at that distance. He specified the ammo he would use per drams of powder and oz. of shot. I imagine the actual measurements of choke and resulting pattern performance came out pretty close to the Parker Repro Q1 & Q2, IMHO the best combination of chokes for close-in shooting in dense cover (especially woodcock). In examining a few Savage Fox Skeet & Upland Game guns, nearly each measured +/- .005" constriction in the right barrel and +/- .009 in the left.
