I had a grand trip planned down there the week between Christmas and New Years. Canvasbacks on Lake Catahoula in the mornings and woodcock in the afternoons. Had to cancel at the last minute due to lake of either bird in the region. I'm glad you boys got into a few.

Now this year the ducks were there for sure.Lots of mallards and greening teal with some gadwall and pintails.Hunting was great for the last week of the season.Birds decoyed well and plenty to shoot.

I grew up thereabouts. My Dad still lives in Jena and I have some acreage there.

Well I will say this. The lodge had a few other clients the first day and same the second last day was packed since season was closing. All had modern semi auto 12ga guns. That vh 12ga performed flawlessly as did the shells I shot.First couple shots were what the hell shots(my fault). Then I settled down and birds fell with no problems.Ducks were decoying well and shots were 20 to 40yds but were stone dead for the most part.
The guys in the lodge were fascinated with the gun and I suspect from the interest and conversations that next season will see a few more vintage guns at least in that lodge.
