Default Parker PH 62448 #2 frame

Hello,

Below are the picture of my new (to me) restored PH. I bought it recently from GunBroker. I am sure some of you have seen it. Anyway I had it checked out by a Dennis Potter and he measured the wall thickness and bore diameter. The minimum thickness is .030 so I guess I am good there. One thing that he found odd was the bore diameter 9" from the breech which was .757 in both barrels which he tells me is quite a bit above standard. He also tells me that he feels it is unlikely that the bores have been honed. Have any of you seen this before? The gun has 2 5/8 chambers and is choked imp/mod and Lt. Full. Anything else you can tell me about the gun would also be greatly apprciated.

Thanks,

Scott

Default Bore Diameter

Here is a figure from a recent Parker Pages. Bores of .750 and larger in 12 ga were common prior to around s/n 70,000 when the tooling was changed.

Best, Austin

Thanks for the replys. Just to clarify when I bought the gun it had already been restored. I believe Ohio Case Color did the case hardening, but I really have no idea who did the rest of the work. I had Dennis inspect the gun. He seems to be a good guy and knows his stuff about classic doubles.

Default Barrel dimensions

There was also a change in choke dimensions around 70000; prior to that the "tightest" chokes were .028 - .032; after that .040 was most common.

Best, Austin
