I drove from North Carolina to Maine for the Vintage Cup at Addieville a few years ago, and my feeling after leaving was thank goodness the PGCA was there. I had a great time, and the venue was fantastic, but I felt like the PGCA/Fox organizations brought the majority of the shooters to that event. Again, that's my opinion/recollection but based on prior participation numbers I don't see the point in having competing double gun events on the same weekend. People talk about the Orvis Game Fair being the same weekend, but that's not the same type of event that we're holding here. Two SxS shoots with people who cross over between these organizations in the same weekend? The fraternity of double gun shooters overall is not a huge community, and we shouldn't be competing with each other when potentially working together could provide for a better experience for vendors and shooters alike. John, I'm fairly certain that Rock Mountain extended an invitation to the Vintagers in order to team up for one big event from the start, which in my mind makes their decision to hold a separate one an even bigger slap in the face.

Mike,

yeah I figured they had tried and extended an invitation.
I have spoken to several people in the know and I have known about the revival of the Vintage Cup for several months. I don't think anyone knew they would pick a competing date though.
It is a damn shame.
Word amongst some of the vintagers is that they want to keep their event formal and small. Word has it that it was said that they did not want it to be as large as in previous years and not a tournament type event but more of a fun event like its origins.

I hate to see this happen as like you said the shooting population is small to begin with and this is just un necessary.

All my best to both events but I will plan on being at the Rock and supporting Mike. Not being done out of any malice or ill will, as again I wish them both the best, but my commitment is to Mike Koneski and his shoot and the PGCA.
