O D, don't get your water from the Flint River do you? During the War I lived at my Grand dad's place in Flushing while my Dad was in the Pacific and the river ran a couple 100 yards behind his place. My Mom always said "don't go near it; you'll get polio".

Double on Quail! by Mike Smith, on Flickr

Didn't have to wait too long. Last Covey of the day, got my Double. I'll have to take my GH 16 ga out tomorrow so I can do it again with a Parker. Shot lights out with my Sterlingworth 20ga though!

Good for you Mike, and now you don't have to listen to Rich about his double
Now you only have to get a double with the Parker and a double with that little 28 ga. hammergun....You still have a couple of days, piece of cake.

Mike - Is that a GoPro mounted on the barrels,or something in the background?

It is a GoPro mounted to the gun. I shot all four days last year with it, and with the wide angles it shoots you couldn't see a single bird against all those pine trees. I'm trying it again his year on some different settings. Hopefully we get some good results, but I won't know until I get home.

Another great day here today. Eric, if you remember the hilltop around that old feeding station we got into last year, we hit that again today. Dog went on point and Jason (our guide) said, "I think this is that single from earlier." It ended up being a covey of about 50 quail, nested all over that hill. Rich and I both shot over 15 times. There were so many birds, and the dogs were touching off so many trying to pick up dead birds it was like shooting a flurry. So many birds we couldn't begin to walk off all the singles. It was an awesome way to wrap up the day.

I have pics, and video, so I'll post more when I get home. I have good video of Rich shooting his FOURTH double yesterday. I did manage to shoot another double yesterday too, and with my Parker GH 16ga, so I see a doubles pin in my future. We hunted in the rain yesterday, but the birds still flew pretty well. Our last hunt is this morning, and the weather looks beautiful. It will be tough to leave, that's for sure.
