Dean, I could not afford an engagement ring for Sylvia in 1962 as I was going to college in Albany and working full time just to survive there. Did have enough for wedding rings, though. 14 karat heavy plain rings. Her's $12, mine size 13, $18. On our 25th anniversary, I did get her a perfect 1 karat solitaire in a platinum setting. At the time, I told her it was my 28 gauge Parker--she laughed.
