Sadly, the early SKBs had less than reliable flat springs. Mostly top lever springs. Many worked fine for years however. Good guns for the most part.

Great design guns, a real workhorse, very well regulated. Hammer and sear springs are prone to breakage.The greatest problem with the original SKB guns is with the soldering of the barrels. The monoblocs on the O/U barrels frequently seperate as do the forend lugs on the SBS barrels. They can be repaired and refinished. Plenty of repair parts still available.
