Probably one of the most poignant Decoration Day recantations I have ever read is the very moving "Not Without Honor", the second story in Col. H. P. Sheldon's book Tranquility published in 1936 by the venerable Derrydale Press.

For those who do not have a reference copy, I will type it in its entirety and post it in a separate thread here on the forum on May 30th - the historical date of Decoration Day.

In the meantime, as we observe the 'new' Memorial Day, have a safe one!
