I use toilet bowl cleaner and a cotton ball. Wear rubber gloves and it'll just wipe the blue right off. Rinse with water and dry; done. I use this method taking guns down to the "white" before I hand engrave them, there's always a degree of metal work to be done to obtain a suitable canvas.
