Before stoning the forend lug, try the fit with the forend removed. If it is still tight with the forend removed, it isn't the lug that is the problem.
The 30" tubes fit to the frame just as well as the original 28" set. The forend then goes on very tight. Always wondered if recoil with this tight of fit would damage the gun somehow.
